Technical examination of electrical equipment

Technical examination of technological schemes and electrical equipment in accordance with paragraph 1.5.2 of the Rules of technical operation of power stations and networks of Russian Federation (ПТЭ), is produced after equipment works out lifetime, set by normative and technical documentation. During the survey, depending on the condition of the equipment, terms of carrying out the subsequent examination are scheduled.

Operation of power plants after excess of the regulatory period (25-30 years) without a technical inspection and extra lifetime prescribed by the authorized commission violates the Rules of technical operation and may be suspended with prescription of Rostekhnadzor.

The elementary document on which basis the work on technical certification is organized in JSC "FGC UES" and other electric grid enterprises, is the standard СТО 56947007- "Guidelines for the periodic technical inspection of electrical substation equipment “ПС ЕНЭС" by JSC "FGC UES".

Specialists of SPA "TECHNOSERVICE-ELECTRO" took an active part in development of that document, and now use it as the main methodological basis in works on technical inspection of electrical substations and power stations.

Methodological guidelines were approved by Rostekhnadzor and are recommended for use in technical inspection of electrical equipment in all enterprises.

During the technical inspection electrical equipment is considered divided by the following functional-technological groups:

• rotating electrical machines;

• power transformers, auto transformers and shunt reactors;

• static compensators;

• capacitor banks;

• current and voltage transformers;

• switches;

• disconnect switches, separators and shorting;

• modular and horizontal rails, bus bridges, busbars, electrical conductors (including the contact connection and the support or suspended insulators);

• inputs and bushings;

• surge valves, tube arresters, surge suppressors;

• capacitors (for communication, for power take-off, for voltage dividers);

• laying;

• current limiting reactors;

• complete switchgears (indoor and outdoor);

• fuses, fuse disconnectors of voltages above 1 kV;

• batteries, chargers, machines and other elements of the system of DC;

• machines, secondary circuits and wiring up to 1 kV;

• grounding devices.

On the basis of the submitted documents, including acts of current, average and major repairs, the results of diagnostic performance measurement, analysis and testing data sheets and the results of examinations and complex diagnostic tests, logs of defects etc., is made a summary of technical state for each of functional and technological groups of equipment, which on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of all the information for each piece of equipment provides an assessment of the technical condition as "normal", "working", "weakened" or "pre-fault".

Based on the analysis of diagnostic information in the consolidated statement, for each process equipment group a technical opinion , which is reviewed and approved by the commission, is drafted

As the outcome, the commission concludes a protocol-examination of the object, which gives an opinion on the possibility (or impossibility) of extending the life of the equipment to the next technical inspection.

If required, in protocol are also given the conditions of life extension of equipment, which requires additional diagnosis, repair or replacement, and the recommended dates for these works.
